Housing Vision Fundraising Campaign :
Delta Pi Properties, Inc. is a nonprofit, domestic housing corporation.

The proverb “Home Is Where The Heart Is” is most often used to describe the idea that a person’s home is not defined by the actual building or residence one occupies. Rather, our home is found when we are surrounded by the people and places we love the most. Suffice it to say, that as long as we are surround by those people and places we care about the most, we are always home. This same notion shows up throughout our society in a variety of ways. An alumnus’ loyalty is not attributed to the actual buildings that made up the college campus he attended, but rather to the spirit, traditions and friendships he made during his time there. The Bible even refers to such when it teaches that the church is not defined by the building where one worships, but rather it is the body of believers joining together in worship that makes up the church.

However, it is unwise to completely dismiss the important role that bricks, mortar and lumber can serve in making a home. While home is not defined or restricted by a tangible building, the building can help to make home a stronger, more permanent place. The alumnus’ loyalty was nurtured by the stadium, classrooms and student centers where he was able to gather with friends, classmates and colleagues. The church is strengthened by having a location where believers can join together to worship and share in each others’ lives. Their respective buildings provide a place where we can surround ourselves with the people and things that are important to us.

These two notions lie at the heart of the mission of Delta Pi Properties, Inc. Over the last decade, the home of the Delta Pi Chapter of the Chi Phi Fraternity has not been marked by a permanent residence or street number instead it has been established in the hearts of those men who make up its ranks. When asked by others why Delta Pi doesn’t have a house we have proudly claimed that our brotherhood is not defined by four walls, but rather by the love and care we have for each other. This statement has stood the test of time and is as true today as it was on May 27, 1997. While we proudly stand by the truth that Delta Pi will continue on with or without a house, we also see the many ways a house can make our brotherhood stronger.

Delta Pi Properties maintains a vision for the members of the Delta Pi chapter of the Chi Phi Fraternity to have a tangible structure where they can meet, reunite, and enjoy each other’s friendship. The Chi Phi House, though only a building, would be much more than that when its halls and rooms are filled with the spirit of Delta Pi. Dream with us for a moment about a place where brothers enjoy a meal together before having a meeting. A place where Brothers pile up around the television and watch the rush video or a game, and everyone is comfortable. A place where Alumni come back to meet their new brothers and visit with their old friends. A place where we can share in the traditions of our fraternity and spend the day together remembering and sharing memories and experiences. A place, a house, where we join together in the company of those that we love and care about. A place we might call home if only for a few years.

It is this vision that defines the purpose of Delta Pi Properties, Inc. as an organization devoted to the provision, maintenance, and management of such a place. For the last few years, DPPI has dedicated itself to planning and implementing the groundwork and infrastructure that will allow such a house to exist for the Brothers of Delta Pi. Under the direction of a very dedicated and hard-working board of directors, DPPI has made significant strides towards this goal in the last 18 months. We are now at the point where a house for Delta Pi is in the very near future. A housing design and floor plan has been developed and approved by the board that will provide for a 3,000 square foot house. The house will provide beds for up to seven brothers while also providing space for chapter meetings, social functions, studying and other important functions for the chapter and its alumni. A floor plan and 3D concept can be found by clicking on the following link respectively (Floor Plan and 3D Flythrough). Groundbreaking is scheduled for the fall of 2008 with a dedication date of November 11, 2009.

However, for this to happen, WE NEED YOUR HELP!

DPPI has determined the costs for the project will be $300,000 and has initiated a fundraising campaign to secure the necessary funds that will get us started and see us through to completion. Already, we have been able to secure commitments for 25% of the goal from the Delta Pi Chapter and the DPPI Board of Directors. This leaves a balance of $225,000 to be raised from alumni and friends. Though this amount may seem daunting, we can reach the goal. There are a variety of ways to give, the best of which is to make a pledge to the campaign over the next five years. A pledge of $250 to be paid every quarter for the next five years equals a campaign gift of $5000!! Likewise, a pledge of $100 to be paid quarterly for five years adds up to a campaign gift of $2000! Whether you’re able to give a lot or a little, your contribution is important and will place us that much closer to the goal.
